HISTORY OF SEWER EXTENSION PROJECT
The Amherst Woods Homeowners Association (AWHA) maintains a substantial amount of Common Property in Amherst Woods. Annual Dues cover the cost of landscaping, storm damage cleanup, insurance, real estate taxes, etc.
Regular maintenance of Common Property helps keep property values high, and at $12.50 per month per household, the $150 per year rate is well below most HOA Dues. NOTE: There is a $20 Discount for early payment and two levels of Late Fees.

Overview of Amherst Woods
Amherst Woods is a neighborhood of 189 homes in South Amherst established in the early 1980s by Connecticut developer Jeffrey Flower. The developer's last name is the likely inspiration for neighborhood street names: Alyssum Drive, Foxglove Lane, Indian Pipe Lane, Ladyslipper Circle, Larkspur Drive, Teaberry Lane, Trillium Way, Wildflower Drive and Woodlot Road. Only Woodlot Road existed before the development of the Amherst Woods neighborhood.
The neighborhood is surrounded by conservation land which provides an abundance of woodland and wetlands that are frequented by a variety of wildlife including: bear, fox, moose, bobcat, fishers, owls and deer. See the Wildlife page for photos of neighborhood wildlife visitors. The neighborhood also has direct access to the Robert Frost hiking trail and the Norwottuck Rail Trail.
See Hiking page for trail maps and photos.

ORANGE BAG FOOD PROJECT
The Orange Bag Food Project in Amherst Woods is being coordinated by resident, Rachel Chapman to benefit the Food Pantry at the Amherst Survival Center. The Project provides an "Orange Bag" to homeowners to fill with non-perishable food items that are picked up outside your front door on Saturday morning every other month and delivered to the Amherst Survival Center. It's an easy way to make a difference in the larger community!
